Gaps in portfolio

Dear reader,

For our customer we have developed a nice website (still under development and not live yet) with the unicon theme.

Gaps in overview
Now we have created pages which display certain portfolio categories (see attachment images). We have noticed that on many of those pages gaps occur, see images. So a blank block on the left or in the middel within a row of 3 items. Is there a way to get this fixed?

Not in the right order
Furthermore sometimes we feel like portfolio items are more displayed in a “snake alike” order instead from left to right on all rows (we have adjusted the dates of the portfolio items in the right order).
For example: we have 3 rows of 3 items:
Row 1: item 1, 2, 3
Row 2: item 6,5,4
Row 3: item 7, 8

Is it possible that this happening for some reason? How could we solve it?
