Basic Theme Way too Slow

Hi I had a wordpress site set up and the speed worked fine. As soon as I installed the Unicon theme, and added all of the demo pages (not yet adding anything additionally on my own) and now the speed is so slow. It says waiting for the site to load. I am wondering where the issue lies (it is it just a matter of deleting all the same pages I won’t be using?) I have only added about 5 images to the site since the beginning. Any help would really be appreciated. Speed of the site is sooo important, and right now this just will not be acceptable. Thank you.
