Selecting Page Attribute Parent not doing anything anymore

Hi,

For some reason, selecting the page attribute parent doesn’t change anything anymore, on a new page or an old page I’m editing.

I wonder if I’ve broken something; if so what is the best way to re-install the theme while making sure to keep all my data?

If reinstall fails, is there some other way to fix this?

Also, please let me know if there is a way I can change permalinks to not have the parent page used permalinked but also using that parent’s design. For example, if I pick the “Careers” page under the “pages” section for a certain page, and my URL looks like /(my site)/pages/careers/(my page)/ — while the page doesn’t actually change. Something fishy is going on.
