how to change progress bar style?

When I add the progress bar inside the theme editor, it only shows the lines from left to right. I’ve tried using inspect element on the demo to put in the extra css class but it doesn’t change anything and there is nothing in documentation that talks about changing the style of the elements. I’d like to use the circular progress bars.
